LEAVENWORTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION

Codes of Conduct: Player and Parents/Guardians/Grandparents

It is the intention of LEAVENWORTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION (LSA) and the LEAVENWORTH UNITED SOCCER CLUB (LUSC) to present this information only as a guideline. The following commitments and expectations are not intended to account for every conceivable example of unacceptable behavior. LSA/LUSC will consider the documentation of the incident, and hear all sides of the incident when addressing any transgression.

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

  • I understand that my actions, good and bad, reflect directly not only on myself but also on the team, and LSA/LUSC. A team and club’s reputation is built on behavior, courtesy, sportsmanship and playing ability.
  • I will exhibit proper behavior, fair play, respect and sportsmanship towards all parties at every practice, game, tournament or at any related events. I will also encourage this behavior from my teammates, coaches, officials, parents and supporters.
  • I will not engage in physical or verbal confrontations with players, coaches, officials or fans before, during or after practices and games.
  • I will be humble, generous and gracious in victory; courteous and dignified in defeat.
  • I will make a personal commitment to achieve academic success in the classroom to the best of my abilities.
  • I understand that the amount of playing time I receive in games will be based on my skills, punctuality, behavior, attitude, and practice/game performance. I know that I may receive more or less playing time than my teammates and playing time is not guaranteed.
  • I will be on time and attend all practices and games, unless approved by the coach.
  • I will wear my uniform in a proper and complete fashion.
  • I will participate with focus and commitment at all practices and games.
  • I will inform the coach or team manager if I will be late for, or unable to attend a practice or game.
  • I will inform my coach or team manager immediately of any injury.
  • I will practice on my own.
  • I will abide by the “FIFA Rules of the Game” and the rules, policies and procedures of LSA/LUSC & Heartland Soccer Association and any corresponding tournament.
  • I will never use a controlled substance (drugs), tobacco products or drink alcoholic beverages for recreational purposes. Proven substance use and/or possession are cause for immediate dismissal from LSA/LUSC.
  • I will approach the coach first (with parent in attendance if necessary) regarding any soccer related concerns or questions.

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

As a LSA/LUSC Parent/Guardian or Family Member:

1. I understand that I am a role model and I am accountable for my actions and must lead by example.

  • I understand that my actions, good and bad, reflect directly not only on myself but also on the team, and LSA/LUSC. A team and club’s reputation is built on behavior, courtesy, sportsmanship and playing ability.
  • I understand that verbally or physically abusing players, coaches, referees, spectators, or opponents is unacceptable, and will NOT be tolerated.  NEVER YELL AT OR TOUCH A REFEREE.
  • I will not coach, criticize, confront, argue with or make negative comments intended for players, opponents, coaches, referees, or other spectators. Sideline comments at practices and games should always be positive. Applaud good play for both teams.
  • I will encourage my player to be a team player and to play by the laws of the game.

2. I will respect the coaches’ time by being on time to drop off or pick up of players for all practices and games. Player will be properly equipped for all practices and games.

  • I will support the coach and refrain from making inappropriate comments in front of my children and/or other children, as they will carry that attitude onto the soccer field.
  • I will encourage my child (with parent in attendance) to discuss soccer related issues with the coach, assistant coach and/or team manager.
  • I will discuss constructive concerns regarding the coach, players or club policies first with the coach, then if needed, with the club director.
  • LUSC competitive: I understand that the amount of playing time my child receives in games will be based on his/her skills, punctuality, behavior, attitude, and practice/game performance. I know that he/she may receive more or less playing time than their teammates and playing time is not guaranteed.

3.   I will abide by the “FIFA Rules of the Game” and the rules, policies and procedures of LSA/LUSC & Heartland Soccer Association and any corresponding tournament.

4.   I understand that it is a privilege to watch my child participate as a member of LUSC, and that privilege can be suspended if my behavior is found to be inconsistent with the expected, acceptable behavior.

  • I will use the 24-Hour Rule when I am concerned about soccer related issues that require me to talk with the coach. The 24-Hour Rule: If a parent is unhappy with an issue regarding their child or team, LUSC strongly recommends waiting 24 hours to discuss the issue. Cooler heads are inevitably more productive.

5.    I will ensure that my player’s account balance and coaching fees (if applicable) are paid within 3 weeks of invoices being posted to my account or coaching fees being requested from the coach/team manager.  On a case by case situation, a payment plan can be set up with LUSC for players that are in good standing with the club.  Failure to make payments in a timely fashion will result in the player being held from practicing and playing in games in the current season to include being allowed to participate in a new soccer season or year until full payment is received.
